This sounds like such a silly question. In my mind, my God is the God of the universe and He can protect me against anything!
I was recently confronted with an extremely unfair situation in which I was so sure God was going to deliver me. I even had a verse
Pro 21:22 One sage entered a whole city of armed soldiers— their trusted defenses fell to pieces!
to which I responded: “Lord, thank You for this. So, I’m going into Johannesburg with a winning mindset. They must cancel the unfair Municipal debt. No bribes. Please send me to the right people Lord. Let me find mercy and grace.”
So, I spent 3 days in Johannesburg without success. I will have to settle the debt. I am so disappointed. Lord, I thought You would deliver me?
On my way back to the guesthouse I listened to Hebrews how Jesus was unfairly crucified but He kept His eye on the big picture. Through His death, everyone could be saved. Then I was reminded how David and Joseph were both treated unfairly and God did not prevent it.
So, I asked God if protection does not include protection against unfairness.
It was as if God asked me where in His Word He explicitly said He would protect us against unfairness. I must admit I couldn’t think of anything.
I also think of the words in the Dutch Sheets book on intersession that God really had big plans with humans and it all started when He made them in His image and likeness and gave them His brand new creation to manage. The disappointment must have been huge when Man fell into sin. Anyway, in spite of this, God’s plan did not change and God seriously still wanted Man to overcome and rule and reign over the enemy here on earth. Could it be that God respects Man’s free will so much that He will NOT override Man’s will even if it is going to hurt someone else? Is God’s perfect plan not for us to pray for the people who treat us unfairly so that they can get born again and surrender to God’s will out of their own free will?
Now, in the big picture, if Satan can get us to assume that protection against unfairness is part of God’s protection, we will constantly be disappointed and even cross with God. This will in turn get us to raise our Children with the mindset that God cannot be trusted and there goes our Godly Nation…
The one verse that could possibly lead us to believe that God will make sure we are treated fairly is
Luk 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
Surely that must be the Ultimate Gift. He goes with us to guide and comfort us through any situation so our best response should be to follow and obey Him. Surely that is bigger than any form of protection!
