Getting direction from God is the same as a dad watching a kid playing with his toys.

• Whatever is in his room, is supposed to be for him to play with.
• If he comes to his dad with every little thing and asks: “Daddy, do you want me to play with the red or green balloon”, you would get very frustrated and advise your son to go ahead and play with whatever he wants, with whatever is available to him.

If you don’t want him to play with something, you would simply remove it from his room.

So, in summary, “play” with your options, make decisions to the best of your ability, follow God’s instructions (even if it doesn’t make sense) and believe that God will take things away if He doesn’t want you to “play” with it.

It would be a good time to back these ‘wild’ statements up by the Word of God and this is about the place where a lot of arguments start. Remember when I said that God’s Word says it, I believe it and that settles it. I know there are many ‘cases’ where it didn’t work and because I’m not God, I don’t know why!

I simply look at God’s relationship with us like our relationship with our children. The bottom line is that we love our children and we want the best for them. The best is not always what they ask for but what I consider the best.

So, If God says in Isa 53 that Jesus died for our sins AND sicknesses, I don’t have to wonder if He wants me well; I am simply going to ask Him to heal me!
Isa 53:4  Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5  But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

If God says He will protect me, I do not have to doubt it, I can simply accept the gift of His protection.
Isa 54:17  No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.

If God says he wants me to have enough so that I can be ‘significant’, I can simply move with confidence.
2Cor 9:8  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

So, God gives His children many promises but all the promises have conditions so simply make sure you are in a position to receive and ask God to release the promise.

If you don’t receive, ask God what you have to learn first.

The process of asking is covered in another Post : Only 3 things to ask.
