However, sometimes God wants you to attempt something different – like a Tree that needs to grow.

Psa 1:3  He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

God will never expect an Olive Tree to become an Oak Tree – so stay within your Design or DNA, but He would expect you to GROW. So, find out what your God given design is (your talents, gifts and passions) and grow into the full potential God has for you.

To illustrate this I’d like to tell you of the day I took my daughter and granddaughter to eat a pizza. My idea was for us to simply sit down, order pizza and chat…My granddaughter’s idea was to play in the play park and Oupa had to go with. The play park had a sign that said ‘Max age 12’. It was not long before she made friends with a girl (10cm taller than herself), and started copying everything this girl did. Soon they discovered a couple of platforms above each other and the other girl could barely get from the one to the next level.  My granddaughter was just not tall enough to master it on her own but she had her Oupa with her and asked for help. As I helped her, I KNEW she would not be able to come down on her own again and, remembering the age restriction of the park, visualized myself going after her with my 50+ aged body to go and rescue her. Not long after that, just as I had expected, she shouted from on high: “Oupa, please come help me!” Then I understood FAITH – It was not my plan for her to get up there but when she tried to get up, I helped her and when she couldn’t come down, I helped her again but through the whole process I was extremely proud of her and felt so honored that she picked me to help her.

This is exactly what happened when Peter walked on the water – it was not Jesus’ idea but Jesus helped him instantly when he sank.
Mat 14:28  And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
Mat 14:29  So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
God wants us to take risks and try new things, within our nature, but stay dependent on Him. He will never leave us nor forsake us.

So, in summary, do your best with what God has given you but also follow your natural gifts (talents and FAITH). Heb 11:6 It’s impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that He exists and that He cares enough to respond to those who seek Him.
Grow to the maximum that you can be and make God proud of you as you trust in His ability through you.
