God says He will provide food for the birds but He does not throw it into their nests.

Mat 6:26  Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

• If your son complains that he can’t manage his new bicycle, you would simply tell him to eat his veggies every day and soon he’ll be strong and able to ride his bike. What will actually happen, is that he will grow 4cm and that is why it will not be a problem anymore. Often we don’t understand the reasons or instructions God gives us to get to our destinies.

• If your son tells you he is now giving up on his new bicycle, you would be very disappointed.

I have been retrenched twice and felt very sorry for myself! I was the wrong age and the wrong colour (in South Africa) to get a job again but simply refused to do nothing at home. It was December 2001. So, I did all the responsible things:

  • I sent out my CV
  • I contacted all my friends (network)
  • I joined LinkedIn
  • I watched the Job adverts
  • I tried to start a Consulting Business
  • I prayed
  • I went for business coaching…
  • nothing happened…

During this time, I discovered the 1 Liner Concept, the reason I was retrenched, brushed up on my Sales Skills (which I acquired when I was a student to pay for my studies) and many ‘gems’ that I will still share in future Posts and the most important thing: God kept His promise:
Heb 13:5  Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.”

One morning in April 2003 I had breakfast with Gary Carter when he offered me the position as MD of WAPPoint, 10% of the shares and a VERY SMALL SALARY.

I felt insulted because this was a fourth of the salary I earned in 2001 when I was retrenched the last time. I went to the Lord to complain. The Lord reminded me that He put me on earth to help other people solve their problems and that Gary has a problem now that he would like me to fix. I didn’t have anything else to do so what was my problem? Why didn’t I go and help Gary? I started working there in May 2003.

Today, 2017, I am still at WAPPoint with 2 Branches, my Wife and 2 Daughters helping me. We are more than 30 employees with a couple of Thousand Customers and the Lord is still helping us.

Thank You Lord for the many lessons You’ve taught me over the years and for blessing us abundantly.

Ps. I never want to retire because I enjoy my work and don’t see ‘retirement’ in the Bible.
