Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
Hebrews 13:4 NKJV
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
Exodus 20:17 NKJV
How often do we complain about our wives?
How often do we think God was so unfair to give us a wife like this or that?
Yes, how often do we wish we had a wife like Ron or Steven…
We even take the problem back to God and ask Him to change our wives to our specifications…
Why is it so difficult to see my wife as a gift from God? Yes, can we start by thanking Him for His gift?
Look at the following verse to get a glimpse of His eternal plan.
But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.
Malachi 2:15 NKJV
Can you see how God could possibly have planned the whole thing from the beginning? Can you see how He planned your children? Can you see that He needed your and your wife’s DNA to form your children?
I met my wife in Grade 1. We were in school together but never dated. Then after leaving high school, we bumped into each other on Johannesburg Station, the biggest railway station in South Africa. Today we have 4 beautiful very talented daughters. I believe God planned it from the start…
Yes, my wife and I are VERY DIFFERENT! We had to learn to appreciate each other’s strengths. We have learnt to appreciate each other’s way of raising our children. We have learnt to make a difference in the lives of other people in our own individual ways but also together as Marriage Counselors.
We fight because we want to change each other but in the end, when I change my attitude and start to thank God for this gift He has given me, things start easing off and I get a soft feeling towards her and then I can focus on God’s plans for us.
I am so glad God is with us and that He knows best. The longer I trust Him with us, the more I see His plans to build character into our offspring, I see Louwtjie’s influence in our Grandchildren and How God is moving in her life and then I understand what Solomon meant when he said: He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord .
Proverbs 18:22 NKJV
Lord, thank You for Louwtjie. I trust You with us. Please help us to fulfill Your plans for our family. Thank You for giving us a second chance after I abandoned her in 1995 for someone else.
